The McHenry Fire Department were dispatched to a reported structure fire at 5406 Hillside Drive in McHenry. They were dispatched at around 10:45 AM this morning. While en-route, fire companies reported a large header of smoke was seen. Upon arrival, Battalion 12 reported a working structure fire, a fully involved vacant residence. First in engine dropped a five inch line. Mutual aid was requested to the scene, and a MABAS Box Alarm for change of quarters companies only was requested on Box #12-74. At 11:00 AM, they reported they were going in defensive mode. About 15 minutes in, the fire was under control. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
