Vernon Hills Police Department were dispatched to a report of a child abduction in Vernon Hills at the Potbelly’s Restaurant, 700 North Milwaukee Ave at around 7:00 P.M. Today.
Police got on scene and reported that it was a child abduction. Police said over the scanner that they may be putting out an Amber Alert. Although, as of 8:50 P.M., no Amber Alert has been put out. An ISPERN Alert though, was put out.
The ISPERN alert stated that the suspect vehicle is a 2013 Blue Ford four door, possibly a Fusion, license plate S944209. Suspect is a male white, brown hair and brown eyes, in his 30’s, thin build, 175 pounds, 6’4-6’5 tall, wearing dark colored pants, and a ball cap.
It also stated that the victim is a female 5-6 years of age, thin build, blonde shoulder length hair, wearing a pink turtle neck sweater under a black North Face jacket, and purple crocks. Vehicle was last seen Eastbound Townline Rd from the scene.
Vernon Hills Police Department has been actively searching the area including the stores and the Westfield Shopping Mall around it when it first happened.
The suspect’s vehicle license plate came back to an address in Wheeling and there was a connection to a Mundelein home as well. The police departments in those towns checked and did not find the suspect at the either house or the suspect vehicle.
It is unknown if the suspect is related to the victim, although there is not believed to be a connection between them.
