On April 30, 2016 at approximately 3:09 A.M. Huntley Police Officers responded to a reported armed robbery at 7-Eleven, located at 12400 Princeton Drive. The offender had fled prior to the Officers arrival and the clerk reported the offender to be a male, African American, 5’06” – 5’08” dressed in dark clothing with his hands and face covered.
The offender demanded money from the cash register and displayed a black handgun. Upon receiving cash, the offender fled the area. Officers searched the area with the assistance of a K-9 Unit from the Kane County Sheriff’s Office, but the offender was not immediately located.
On May 5, 2016 Huntley Police Investigators investigated a person of interest being held by the McHenry City Police Department, which lead to charges being filed for the Huntley 7-Eleven robbery.
Upon consultation with the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office, 19-year-old Alize Q. L. Smith, 11368 Timer Drive, Unit 2A, Huntley, IL, has been charged with the following: Aggravated Robbery / Indicate armed with a firearm – Class 1 Felony and Theft/Control/Person Less Than $500 – Class 3 Felony.
The Huntley Police Department received cooperation from the Kane County Sheriff’s Office, the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office and the McHenry City Police Department during the course of this investigation. Mr. Smith is currently being held at the McHenry County Jail.
