(PATCH.COM) — The McHenry County Coroner’s Office has identified the man who was found dead in a field near Route 31 in Lake in the Hills this past week as a Chicago man who had been reported missing.
An excavator working in the 8000 block of Route 31 found the body of Lawrence “Larry” Johnson late Monday afternoon, McHenry County Coroner Anne Majewski said Thursday.
An autopsy revealed no evidence of trauma or any suspicious findings but preliminary findings did show that hypothermia played a role in Johnson’s death, Majewski said.
The autopsy was completed Thursday “after allowing for proper warming of the body in the coroner’s office,” Majewski said.
The Northwest Herald is reporting Johnson is the same Chicago man who was reported missing in recent weeks.
Family members reported Johnson missing on Jan. 26, according to authorities.
Authorities believe Johnson was at the Wal-Mart store, located at 1205 South Route 31 in Crystal Lake, the morning of Thursday, January 26 at 2:40 a.m. Store video surveillance recorded Johnson on foot at the rear of the business at that time.
Johnson was considered endangered and did suffer from memory loss, authorities said.
Johnson did not have vehicle at the time he went missing.
Authorities are waiting on results from toxicology tests and Johnson’s death remains under investigation.
