(PRESS RELEASE) — Lake County Sheriff’s Office responded to a fatal motorcycle crash Saturday night on Route 41 in Wadsworth.
At approximately 8:04 PM, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office was called to a report of a motorcycle crash with injuries.
Preliminary investigation indicates a 2013 Harley Davidson motorcycle was traveling southbound on Route 41 north of Route 173, in Wadsworth.
Initial indications are the driver of the motorcycle rear-ended a 1985 Pontiac Fiero, also traveling southbound Route 41.
The driver of the motorcycle, who was not wearing a helmet, was ejected and sustained significant injuries as a result of the crash.
The driver of the motorcycle, a 42-year-old-male from Beach Park, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the Fiero, a 63-year-old male from Gurnee, was not injured.
The identity of the deceased driver is being withheld pending notification of next of kin by the Lake County Coroner’s Office.
The traffic crash is being investigated by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Unit.
