A motorcyclist who was ejected and killed following a crash in Wadsworth on Route 41 on February 18 has been identified.
At approximately 8:04 PM on that Saturday, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office was called to a report of a motorcycle crash with injuries.
Investigation indicates a 2013 Harley Davidson motorcycle, driven by Shawn Hoff, 42, of Waukegan, IL, was traveling southbound on Route 41 north of Route 173, in Wadsworth.
It was reported that the driver of the motorcycle rear-ended a 1985 Pontiac Fiero, also traveling southbound Route 41.
The motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet and was ejected and sustained significant injuries as a result of the crash.
He was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the Fiero, a 63-year-old male from Gurnee, was not injured.
The traffic crash is being investigated by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Unit.
A GoFundMe page was created for Hoff’s family and almost $8,500 has been raised for their expenses.
