No injuries were reported after a man crashed his SUV into a retention pond in Round Lake Beach at around 2:30 a.m..
The Greater Round Lake Fire Department and Round Lake Beach Police department responded early this morning near the Home Depot, 2050 North Route 83.
The man who was driving the dark blue Suzuki Vitara walked to the nearby Meijer for help after escaping his car that plunged into the water.
The man was not injured and refused transport to the hospital.
The fire department waited until later in the morning to get the vehicle out because it was too hazardous in the dark.
A team of divers from Round Lake, Fox Lake, Lake Villa, Antioch, and Grayslake fire departments responded at around 10:15 a.m. to get the vehicle out of the water.
A specialized tow wrecker was called to the scene as well.
The police have not released what caused the driver of the car to go into the water.
