Suspect in Buffalo Grove domestic attack dies in crash following police pursuit

(PATCH.COM) — One person involved in an alleged domestic disturbance in Buffalo Grove Saturday morning has since died in a three-vehicle crash following a police pursuit, authorities said.

The alleged offender smashed a back patio door at a home on Auburn Lane in Buffalo Grove causing the homeowner and her daughter, who the offender knew, to receive minor cuts from the breaking glass, the homeowner told police.

Authorities also received several reports of gunshots in the area of Auburn Lane at about 10:20 a.m. Saturday.

One person reported hearing screaming and gunshots and another reported hearing several loud pops and the sound of glass breaking, according to police.

Witnesses told police they saw a male run from the house after the disturbance and then entered a red sedan.

Minutes later, a Buffalo Grove police officer observed a red Toyota Corolla driving south on Arlington Heights Road approaching Lake Cook Road.

The officer activated his emergency lights and siren but the vehicle continued to flee west on Lake Cook Road.

After the vehicle passed Wilke Road, the Toyota Corolla collided with two other vehicles. The driver of the Corolla was taken to Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights where he later died. His name is not currently being released, authorities said.

The drivers of the two other vehicles involved in the crash sustained injuries that were not considered life-threatening, police said. They were both treated and released from area hospitals.

The Buffalo Grove police investigation into the alleged domestic disturbance is ongoing. The Cook County Sheriff’s Department is handling the crash investigation. wrote this article
