Brothers killed in McHenry County crash identified

(PATCH.COM) — The McHenry County Coroner has identified two brothers killed Wednesday morning in a two-vehicle crash in McHenry County.

On Thursday morning, McHenry County Coroner Anne Majewski said Leonardo Rangel-Jimenez, 31, and Alejandro Rangel-Jimenez, 35, both of Elgin, died at the scene of the crash at Route 20 near Harmony Road in unincorporated Riley Township.

The collision occurred when a 1999 Volkswagen Jetta lost control while heading north on Route 20 at about 5:28 a.m.

The car traveled into the southbound lane where it hit a 2013 Ford F-550 Super Duty truck head on, according to a news release from the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office.

The brothers were headed to work at the time of the crash with Leonardo Rangel-Jimenez behind the wheel and his older brother riding as a passenger in the vehicle, according to a GoFundMe page set up to help cover the funeral costs for the brothers.
