A bicyclist was critically injured after being struck by a van in North Barrington on Monday.
The crash occurred at around noon near Biltmore Drive and Miller Road in North Barrington.
The bicyclist was a 19-year-old man from Crystal Lake according to Lake County Sheriff Sgt. Christopher Covelli.
The crash happened after the teenager turned right onto Miller Road from Biltmore Drive to go east when a work van who was also travelling east struck him.
According to Sgt. Christopher Covelli, he was transported to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge with serious injuries. The teenager was not wearing a helmet.
He remains in the hospital Tuesday in critical condition.
The driver of the work van was a 29-year-old from Crystal Lake and was not injured.
The road was closed for several hours Monday following the crash for investigation.
