Police investigating armed home invasion in Lindenhurst

The Lindenhurst Police Department is investigating a home invasion in which a male offender, armed with a handgun, broke into a home in Lindenhurst early Tuesday morning.

The suspect entered a home in the 700 block of Beck Rd in Lindenhurst at approximately 1:00 a.m. Tuesday morning.

The offender was described as an African American male, wearing a mask and a black hooded sweatshirt. The offender reportedly entered the home through an unlocked door. Once inside the residence, the offender removed jewelry, cellphones, an Xbox game station and a television.

The offender fled the address in an older model, silver/gray Chevy four-door, with a two-tone white/black interior. No one was injured in the incident.

“The specific details indicate that this is a targeted, isolated event, specific to the people involved. We feel that there is no threat to the community and that this is not a random act”, Police Chief Thomas Jones said.
