Woodstock Police are still searching for suspects of a shooting from Saturday morning that left one person shot in what police say was a targeted attack.

The Woodstock Police Department responded to the 1200 block of Mitchell Street for a report of shots fired at 2:18 a.m. Saturday morning after receiving multiple 911 calls.

Patrol officers arrived and found a 33-year-old Chicago resident with a single gunshot wound to his lower left abdomen.

The victim was transported to an area emergency room where he was treated for what was believed to be a non-life threatening wound, police said.

Authorities said it was learned that an altercation took place inside of a vehicle that was parked in the driveway of a single family residence in the 1200 block of Mitchell Street between the victim and two male black suspects whom reportedly had masks over their face in attempts to conceal their identities.

During the physical altercation, a pistol was displayed and one round was discharged.

The victim was able to escape and flee into the residence. Moments later, two more rounds were discharged from outside the residence, which entered through the front door of the residence.

One of these rounds struck the victim in his lower left abdomen, which exited out his lower left torso. At the time of the shooting, the residence was occupied by a total of five people.

The victims of this incident appear to have been targeted and possibly knew the offenders.

Woodstock detectives are continuing to investigate this incident and are attempting to locate the two suspects. Police have said that the detectives are still following up on leads.

Police also said it appears this is an “isolated incident and no heightened risk to the public’s safety appears to exist”.
