A 22-year-old Wonder Lake man was arrested Sunday and charged in connection with a hit-and-run accident which seriously injured a pedestrian in unincorporated McHenry.

According the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, a preliminary investigation indicated that at 2:23 a.m. Sunday a 2014 Chevrolet Malibu sedan headed south in the 3000 block of Lincoln Road near Emily Lane and struck an adult male pedestrian who had been near the edge of the roadway.

Officials said the pedestrian was a 48-year-old male from Woodstock but did not release his name.

The Malibu then left the scene and was located by McHenry County Sheriff’s deputies elsewhere within the City of McHenry. Authorities said that Alexsandro J. Tackett of Wonder Lake was the sole occupant of the vehicle at the time of the accident.

The victim was transported to Centegra Hospital — McHenry by McHenry Township Fire Protection District and then flown by Flight For Life to Advocate Condell Medical Center where he remained in stable but critical condition.

Tackett is due to appear in bond court on July 10 at 8:30 a.m..
