Two people were killed Sunday evening when the motorcycle they were on crashed into a light pole in Algonquin.
Police said the crash happened at around 5:07 p.m. on the Route 31 western bypass north of Route 62. A BMW motorcycle was heading north on Route 31 when it hit a raised median and went into the southbound lanes where it then struck a light pole on the west side of the street.
The male driver and female passenger were both killed, officials said. Their identities are being withheld pending notification of the family.
The northbound and southbound lanes of the western bypass were shut down for several hours.
Algonquin Police Department and the Kane County Accident Reconstruction Team are currently investigating the crash.
