Fire departments from around Lake County are on scene after a house exploded and collapsed in Libertyville.

Firefighters were called to the scene in the 1700 block of Sunnyview Road in Libertyville near Route 137 at around 2:40 p.m. Wednesday.

The house was completely leveled by the explosion however there was no active fire. Several people reported hearing and feeling the explosion from miles away.

It’s not believed that there were any injuries due to the explosion.

Fire officials activated the Mutual Aid Box Alarm System (MABAS) system which brought in additional firefighters from around Lake County to the scene.

ComEd and North Shore Gas was also called to the scene.

It’s unknown what caused the explosion.

This is an active incident and more updates will be posted when available.

Update @ 3:15 p.m.: Firefighters from surrounding towns are being released from the scene.
