A man is in critical condition after crashing his motorcycle near Cary early Wednesday morning.
At 12:11 a.m. the Cary Fire Protection District was called to the intersection of Fox River Road and Woodland Ave near Cary in unincorporated Lake County for a motorcycle crash.
First responders arrived on scene at 12:19 a.m. and found the crash and victim well off the roadway in a field, officials said.
The male patient was treated and moved to an ambulance where he was transported to Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington in critical condition.
Fire officials said that a Flight For Life Helicopter was placed on standby prior to units arriving on the scene. However, after the patient was evaluated by paramedics, Flight For Life was cancelled because the patient did not meet the criteria for transportation by a medical helicopter due to his critical condition.
The motorcycle crash is being investigated by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. The Cary Police Department also assisted at the scene.
“The Cary Fire Protection District would like to remind everyone that safety is everyone’s responsibility. When participating in summer activities please wear appropriate protective equipment whether riding a bicycle, a motorcycle or a scooter,” Lt. Michael Douglass of the Cary Fire Protection District said in a statement.
