Police are investigating a shooting that left two people shot in Waukegan early Wednesday morning.

At around 1:00 a.m. officers from the Waukegan Police Department responded to the area of Grand Avenue and Pine Street in Waukegan for a reported shooting, officials said.

According to Waukegan Police Chief Wayne Walles, officers arrived and located two victims which had been shot.

Walles said that both victims are males and from Waukegan. One victim is 17-years-old and the other victim is 20-years-old.

Police said in a statement that both victims suffered non-life threatening gunshot wounds and were taken to an area hospital where they remain in stable condition.

Detectives from the Waukegan Police Departmentโ€™s Criminal Investigationโ€™s Division are investigating the shooting. Detectives believe that this was a consensual encounter that escalated to the shooting. No one is in custody at this time.

“There is no threat to the general public. This incident is being treated as an isolated incident,” Waukegan Police Chief Wayne Walles said.
