A dead body was found floating in a pond by a bystander in Lake in the Hills Tuesday morning, fire officials said.
The Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection district was called at around 10:40 a.m. for a report of a person in the water at Larsen Park, 1211 Pyott Road, which is near Creekview Lane and Horizon Ridge.
Authorities said that a bystander had called 911 to report a person face down in the water.
Emergency personnel arrived on scene and began searching the area. Fire officials said that the victim was located and removed from the water by fire department personnel.
The scene was turned over to the Lake in the Hills Police Department and the McHenry County Coroner.
No information was provided about the victim’s gender, age, or name. Officials did not give any other details about what happened to lead up to this.
Police said they have no information to suggest that there is a threat to public safety at this time.
The McHenry Counter Coroner said that an autopsy will be performed Wednesday morning.
