A man has been arrested after he punched and kicked a woman who was in an altercation with his girlfriend in Woodstock on August 6.

On Sunday August 6 at 4:30 p.m. the Woodstock Police Department responded to the 1700 block of Walnut Drive in Woodstock for a report of an aggravated assault complaint, police said.

Police officers learned during their investigation that there was an altercation that occurred at Bates Park, 1500 North Seminary Avenue in Woodstock, between two females.

During the altercation police said that a boyfriend of one of the females involved punched and kicked the female who was arguing with his girlfriend. The people involved in the altercation were eventually separated and went different ways, authorities said.

The male suspect was identified as Colton M. Howell, 19, of Woodstock. Police said that an arrest warrant was obtained for Howell and on August 9 he was located by Woodstock Police.

Howell was taken into custody and charged with one count of aggravated battery in a public place which is a Class X felony. His bond was set at $20,000.

He was transported to the McHenry County Jail where as of Monday he remains in custody, police said.

 

Police said that his next court date is on August 15 at 9:00 a.m.

The incident remains under investigation by the Woodstock Police Department.
