A Highland Park man has been arrested after he tried to make sexual advances to a woman and then dragged her from behind towards the street in an attack on Sunday, police said.

The Highland Park Police Department said in a statement thatย Damian Toledo-Comacho, 45, of the 2400 block of Trillium Avenue in Highland Park, was arrested and charged with aggravated battery on a public way, unlawful restraint, and kidnapping.

Police were called at 3:23 a.m. on Sunday for a report of an assault that had occurred in the 2300 block of Green Bay Road in Highland Park.

Officials said that a woman was approached by Toledo-Comacho who made sexual advances to her. She declined and he then grabbed her from behind and pulled her into the street.

Police also said that a motorist who was driving on Green Bay Road witnessed the attack and began honking the horn and flashing the bright lights. At that point the victim was able to escape Toledo-Comacho. After 911 was called the offender fled on foot.

Toledo-Comacho was located a short time later after police were given a description of him. Investigators said that it was determined the woman and Toledo-Comacho knew each and the attack wasn’t random.

The woman was not injured and declined medical treatment, police said.

As of Tuesday Toledo-Comacho remained jailed on a $100,000 bond. His next court date is on August 30.
