A man was killed after being shot in a shooting in North Chicago Thursday night.

Police said that at about 11:00 p.m. a 39-year-old man was shot in the 1300 block of North Jackson Street in North Chicago.

The victim was transported to Vista East Hospital in Waukegan where he was pronounced dead.

Lake County Major Crime Task Force spokesman Christopher Covelli said that no one has been arrested in the shooting as of Friday.

Police also have not publicly released the identity of the man killed pending the notification of his family.

According to Lake County Major Crime Task Force spokesman Christopher Covelli, the North Chicago Police Department requested the assistance of the Lake County Major Crime Task Force in the investigation.

An autopsy of the victim was performed Friday morning according to Lake County Coroner Howard Cooper. Preliminary results show that the cause of death was due to the gunshot wound(s) and it was ruled a homicide.

No additional information was released by police on what led to the shooting.
