A Chicago teenager has been charged with stealing from vehicles on Tuesday in Buffalo Grove, police said.

At around 4:00 a.m. the Buffalo Grove Police Department received an anonymous call reporting that four juveniles were breaking into vehicles in the Cherbourg subdivision, which is located along Route 83 between Buffalo Grove Road and Lake Cook Road.

Police officers initially found only two suspects, who were 16-years-old and 17-years-old, trying to break into a Lyft driver’s vehicle.

Police said that the two teens admitted to breaking into vehicles and then told officers that two of their friends were also involved. Officers searched the area and found two other teenagers, both who were 16-years-old.

Officials said that only one of the teenagers was charged with criminal trespass to vehicle, theft, and violation of curfew. The other three teenagers were only charged with violating curfew. All four suspects are Chicago residents.
