A Spring Grove man has been arrested and charged with theft after police said that he told a clerk to put money from the cash register in a bag at the Family Video store in Antioch earlier this month.
At around 7:00 p.m. on August 9 a man entered the Family Video store at 504 Orchard Street in Antioch wearing a winter stocking cap, sunglasses, and a strip of orange tape over part of his face in an attempt to disguise himself.
Antioch police said that he placed a bag on the counter and told the clerk to put money from the cash register into the bag. The clerk complied and the suspect fled, police said.
The suspect, Keith E. Bradley, 26, of the 3800 block of Watts Avenue in Spring Grove, was arrested by Fox Lake Police Department officers in Fox Lake four days later, officials said.
Bradley was charged with theft, a Class A misdemeanor, which is punishable by up to one year in jail and a fine of up to $2,500.
Antioch police said that Bradley was only charged with theft and not robbery because “it did not rise to the level of the offense of robbery under Illinois Law”.
