Three police officers and teenage boy were hospitalized Tuesday morning after the officers rescued the boy from his burning home in Grayslake.

Firefighters and police responded at around 12:35 a.m. to a report of a house fire with someone trapped inside in the 300 block of Normandy Lane in Grayslake.

Police officers arrived on the scene first and reportedly could hear the teenage boy screaming for help from inside the house that was on fire. Three police officers helped rescue the teen and brought him out the front door when firefighters were arriving, officials said.

All three police officers and the teen boy were injured and transported by ambulance to Advocate Condell Hospital in Libertyville. Their conditions are unknown.

Authorities said that two other people were inside the home when the fire started but were able to get out safely before first responders arrived. The fire was knocked down by about 1:20 a.m..

The Grayslake Fire Protection District received assistance at the scene from Round Lake, Libertyville, Gurnee, Newport, Mundelein, and Lake Zurich fire departments.

Spring Grove, Antioch, Countryside, and Knollwood fire departments helped provide fire station coverage for Grayslake during the fire.

The Grayslake Fire Protection District is investigating the fire with assistance from the Illinois State Fire Marshal’s Office.
