The coroner has identified the 27-year-old man who was killed after a motorcycle crash in Fox Lake on Tuesday.

McHenry County Coroner Dr. Anne L. Majewski identified the man as Samual J. Wiesbrock, 26, of Spring Grove.

Fox Lake police and firefighters responded to a report of a car that hit a motorcycle at around 4:30 p.m. on State Park Road just south of Grass Lake Road near Kohl Avenue in Fox Lake.

The McHenry County Coroner’s Office said that Wiesbrock was transported to Centegra Hospital-McHenry by ambulance where he was pronounced dead at 5:20 p.m.. An autopsy by the coroner’s office confirmed Wiesbrock died of blunt trauma to the head. Toxicology testing is pending at this time.

Police said that a preliminary investigation shows Wiesbrock was riding a Yamaha motorcycle northbound on State Park Road in the southbound lanes near Kohl Avenue attempting to pass vehicles that were in the northbound lane. A Chevrolet passenger car driving in the northbound lanes turned left onto Kohl Avenue from State Park Road and Wiesbrock hit the driver’s side of the vehicle, according to Fox Lake police.

McHenry County Coroner Dr. Anne L. Majewski said that Wiesbrock was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash but was ejected from his motorcycle on impact with the car.

The crash had shut down roads around the crash during rush hour on Tuesday which later reopened at around 9:00 p.m..

Authorities said that the Major Crash Assistance Team (MCAT) was called in to assist with the investigation. The crash remains under investigation by the Fox Lake Police Department, Major Crash Assistance Team (MCAT), and the McHenry County Coroner’s Office.
