An elderly man who was riding on his bicycle was seriously injured in what appears to be a hit-and-run in Crystal Lake.

Crystal Lake Police and Fire Departments were called at around 2:10 p.m. Wednesday to the intersection near Main Street and Congress Parkway by Walkup Extension in Crystal Lake for a possible hit-and-run of a bicyclist who was found injured in the street

When emergency crews arrived at the scene they found a bicyclist in his 70s down on the road unconscious with serious injuries. He was transported to the hospital for treatment.

Police said that initial reports were that the man was struck by a car when he was riding on his bicycle, but those reports have not been confirmed yet. Witnesses said that they saw a small silver sedan, driven by a white male wearing a neon-colored shirt, in the immediate area after the victim was found down on the road, which left before police got to the scene.
