A 57-year-old man, who died after crashing his motorcycle into a tree in Antioch Sunday evening, has been identified by the coroner.
Lake County Coroner Dr. Howard Cooper said that the man has been identified asย Russell Schultz, 57, of Antioch.
At around 7:55 p.m. on Sunday, police said that Schultzย was traveling on his motorcycle southbound on Nelson Road and did not stop at the intersection at North Avenue. He then crossed North Avenue and struck a tree off the roadway, which ejected Schultz from the motorcycle.
He was transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville after the crash where he was pronounced dead.
An autopsy was conducted on Tuesday and the coroner confirmed that Schultz died from multiple traumatic injuries due to the crash. Toxicology results are pending.
The Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team and the Antioch Police Department are still investigating the crash.
