A Deerfield man has been arrested and charged with impersonating a law enforcement officer after a domestic dispute, authorities said.

Sheriff’s deputies responded on Wednesday to a report of a domestic disturbance in the 100 block of Inverraryย Lane in unincorporated Deerfield.

Ryan W. Chrzanowsky, 35, of Deerfield, told police at the scene that he was a law enforcement officer, according to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. Sheriff’s officials also said thatย Chrzanowsky told sheriff’s deputies that he was a Purple Heart recipient as well.

Following an investigation, deputies confirmed that both of Chrzanowsky’s claims were false. He is not a law enforcement officer nor a Purple Heart recipient.

He was charged with false personation of a peace officer which is a felony. He showed up in court on Thursday and was released on a $25,000 bond. Chrzanowsky is next scheduled for court on October 11.
