A Gurnee man is facing multiple felony charges after he allegedly sexually abused a child, who was under the age of 13, in Round Lake Park over a span of several months.

Round Lake Park Police Chief George Filenko said that a warrant was issued for Rodrick R. Linnear 36, of the 3400 block of Woodlawn Drive in Gurnee, following allegations of sexual abuse of a minor.

Filenko said that Linnear was arrested by Round Lake Park officers on Tuesday at his workplace in Waukegan. The arrest came following a month-long joint investigation with the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Child Advocacy Center.

Filenko said that in early August the parent of the victim came to police. An investigation revealed that several incidents occurred over a four-month period involving the victim, who was under the age of 13, and Linnear.

“Some things that occur in our society relating to crime against the most vulnerable, our children, are inexplicable,” Filenko said.

Linnear has been charged with four counts of predatory criminal sexual abuse (Class X felony) and one count of criminal sexual abuse (Class 2 felony). Linnear is being held at Lake County Jail on a $1 million bond.
