A Lake in the Hills man is facing multiple charges after police found a secret marijuana grow operation during a search warrant on Monday.

The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Task Force arrested Thomas Discher, 47, after conducting a search warrant in the 100 block of Grant Avenue in Lake in the Hills. Police found a “clandestine” cannabis grow operation.

According to the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, detectives received information that there was a grow operation at a home in the 100 block of Grant Avenue in Lake in the Hills. An investigation was started and it led to a search warrant, authorities said. Discher was inside the residence with his wife and four children at the time of the search warrant, sheriff’s officials said in a statement.

Detectives recovered 74 cannabis plants, most 6 feet or taller, 182.2 grams of cannabis packaged for sale, additional packaging materials and equipment, and other related articles, the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office said. The estimated street value of the cannabis seized is approximately $56,064.

Discher was charged with production of cannabis sativa plants, unlawful delivery of cannabis, unlawful possession of cannabis, and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. His bond was set at $50,000. Discher is next due in court on September 26 at 9:00 a.m..
