Gurnee police are investigating a sexual assault that occurred over the weekend on a walking path.
Gurnee police said that between 8:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. on Saturday night, the victim was on a wooded walking path south of Washington Street and Route 21 in Gurnee when the assault happened.
Authorities said that the offender is described as a male having a “tan” complexion, being of medium to heavy “but not fat” build. He has dark short hair, that was shaved on the sides and facial hair in the form of a goatee. He’s described as smelling of smoke and was “sweaty” at the time of the offense.
Police said that the suspect was last seen wearing a dark-colored, hooded sweatshirt made of light weight material. The sweatshirt had a contrasting color logo of some kind on the left breast. He was wearing dark-colored, possibly sweat pants. A composite sketch is being worked on and will be released when it’s finished.
