Police arrested a juvenile on Monday who admitted to dozens of car burglaries and car thefts in the Lakemoor area.

On Monday at about 5:30 p.m., Lakemoor police officers responded to a well-being check for a juvenile in the 500 block of Summer Boulevard in Lakemoor. When police arrived they located the juvenile hiding in a closet inside the residence.

The Lakemoor Police Department said in a statement that a preliminary investigation resulted in the juvenile admitting to about 14 vehicle burglaries in Lakemoor, the recent vehicle theft and police chase which ended in a crash at Route 12 and Molidor Road, and over 20 vehicle burglaries and 5 auto thefts in multiple other towns.

The Lakemoor Police Department said that the juvenile was transported to Depke Juvenile Complex Center in Vernon Hills.

“The Lakemoor Police Department would like to remind all residents to make sure their vehicle doors are locked and valuables are removed from the vehicle,” authorities said in the statement.
