Two teens are facing charges following an armed robbery that left a juvenile stabbed in Crystal Lake on Tuesday.
At about 7:04 p.m. on Tuesday, a male juvenile showed up to the Crystal Lake Police Department. Officers determined the victim had sustained a minor, non-life threatening stab wound to the arm, as a result of a robbery in which the juvenile’s wallet with around $400 was taken along with some marijuana, police said.
Crystal Lake police detectives began a criminal investigation where they conducted several interviews and investigated numerous leads. The juvenile victim was uncooperative with police. Investigators found out that about two hours earlier at 5:00 p.m., the victim willingly entered a vehicle in the 200 block of Ridge Avenue in Crystal Lake. The vehicle was occupied by three other males.
Officials said that an altercation between the victim and male occupants occurred when one of the males displayed a knife to try and rob the victim. Police said a struggle ensued as the victim was attempting to get out of the vehicle.
Authorities said that the juvenile victim was then stabbed and robbed of his wallet, cash, and some marijuana.
The next day Crystal Lake detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Armando Masegosa, 18, of 216 Hickory Drive in Crystal Lake. Crystal Lake police arrested Masegosa the same day the warrant was issued. He was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon (class 3 felony), aggravated battery in a public place (class 3 felony), and armed robbery (class X felony).
Armando was unable to post the $100,000 bond. He was transported to the McHenry County Jail in Woodstock. His next court date is scheduled for October 2 at the McHenry County Courthouse.
Crystal Lake police arrested a second suspect, a 17 year-old male. He is being charged as a juvenile for armed robbery (class X felony). He was transported to the Kane County Juvenile Justice Center in St. Charles where he remains confined pending a hearing in juvenile court.
The third male juvenile occupant inside the suspect vehicle was not charged.
