Lake County sheriff’s deputies were called to a report of a man with a gun in a garage Wednesday evening in Volo.
At around 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office responded to a home in the 200 block of Niagara Drive in Volo for a report of a person with a gun. A witness in the area called 911 to report that he saw a man armed with a gun in the garage of a home.
Authorities said that sheriff’s deputies arrived and made contact with the occupants inside the home. Officials said that the occupants of the home were all cooperative. It was later determined the gun seen by the witness was a BB gun.
“After determining there was no evidence of a crime, the sheriff’s deputies departed the scene,” the Lake County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.
A large number of police were seen at the scene. Several businesses within the area went on lockdown as a precaution. The film crew from the TV show ‘Live PD’ happened to be at the scene since they’re filming with one of the deputies who was called to the incident.
In 2015, sheriff’s deputies responded to the same home for a report of shots being fired. During that incident, a man was arrested for reckless discharge of a firearm, after he fired the gun and the discharged bullet struck a neighboring home.
