An Ingleside man is dead after he drove off the road and struck a tree early Saturday morning, sheriff’s officials said.

At around 6:30 a.m. on Saturday, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, Greater Round Lake Fire Protection District, and Fox Lake Fire Protection District responded to a reported traffic crash with injuries in the area of Rollins Road and Wilson Boulevard in Ingleside. When sheriff’s deputies arrived, they located a 1998 Dodge Ram pickup truck with extensive damage.

According to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, a preliminary investigation showed that the driver of the Dodge, a 52 year-old man of Ingleside, was traveling eastbound on Rollins Road approaching Wilson Boulevard. For an unknown reason, he failed to make the turn around the curve in the roadway, authorities said.

He drove off the north side of the road and struck a tree. Officials said that due to the extensive damage to the pickup truck, it took around one hour for firefighters to extricate the man from the vehicle.
