A suspect is in custody after he robbed a bank in Third Lake Tuesday, according to the FBI.
The Associated Bank at 34354 North Route 45 in Third Lake, which is near Grayslake, was robbed Tuesday afternoon, and the FBI reported a man was in custody after crashing his vehicle on an Interstate 294 off ramp near Northbrook.
FBI Chicago media coordinator Garrett H. Croon said in an email that a suspect described as a white or Hispanic male walked into the bank at around 3:15 p.m., robbed it and then fled. The FBI said that it was a non-takeover type robbery.
The suspect was taken into custody after he fled southbound on I-94 to I-294. He then tried to exit at Willow Road in Northbrook when his vehicle was involved in a crash with another vehicle, the FBI said.
The Illinois State Police referred all questions to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. The Lake County Sheriff’s Office said that officials are still gathering details and more information will be released soon.
