The Waukegan Police Department is investigating an armed robbery where the suspect fired a gunshot Tuesday evening.

At about 8:55 p.m. Tuesday evening, the Waukegan Police Department responded to the Dollar General Store at 1501 Belvidere Road in Waukegan for a reported armed robbery. When officers arrived they spoke to a store clerk that confirmed the store was robbed at gunpoint.

Police said that the suspect is described as a male white with a slim build and around 6 feet tall. The suspect was wearing all black and had on a white mask covering his face. The suspect demanded money from the clerk. During the robbery, a shot was fired by the suspect from his gun. No one was injured by the bullet.

The suspect was last seen fleeing the store on foot.

The Waukegan Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division is investigating the incident. Police are not releasing the amount of money that was taken.
