A 96-year-old Lake Bluff man has been charged after he allegedly sexually assaulted a child under the age of 13, police said.
Robert E. Bruce, 96, of 441 Park Lane in Lake Bluff, was charged with predatory sexual assault of a child (class X felony). Lake Bluff Police Chief David Belmonte said that Bruce was charged following an investigation by the Lake Bluff Police Department and Lake County Children’s Advocacy Center.
The investigation revealed that Bruce allegedly engaged in sexual conduct with a victim under the age of 13 at his home at 441 Park Lane in Lake Bluff. The victim was the child of guests at Bruce’s home, authorities said.
Family members of the child notified the police department on October 6 of the alleged molestation, which was reported to have occurred early in October, police said.
An arrest warrant was issued for Bruce. He turned himself in on the warrant to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday, officials said. He was released on a $100,000 bond after posting $10,000. His next court date is pending.
