Three teenagers were arrested and charged after police found over 1,000 grams in total of marijuana during warrant searches in McHenry County.

On Thursday, the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Task Force, which includes Task Force Officers from Lake in the Hills Police and McHenry City Police, arrested three people allegedly involved in selling marijuana in the Cary and Island Lake area.

The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office said that following multiple complaints of drug activity in those areas, a two-month investigation developed information that led to three search warrants of homes in those towns over a period of three weeks.

On September 22, the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Task Force served a search warrant in the 3300 block of Southport Drive in Island Lake. During the search, detectives seized 50 grams of cannabis, 1 hit of LSD, 1 ecstasy pill, 5 Adderall pills, packaging material, drug scales, a 2012 Kawasaki Ninja, and $258 in cash. Police officers arrested Matthew Pawelko, 18, during the search warrant.

On October 11, McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Task Force officers served a search warrant in the 100 block of Georgetown Drive in Cary. During the search, detectives seized around 120 grams of cannabis, 4 cannabis sativa plants, packaging material, drug paraphernalia, and $330 in cash. Police officers arrested James O’Hara, 19, during the search warrant.

Later in the day on October 11, McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Task Force officers served a search warrant in the 800 block of Wildrose Lane in Cary. During the search, detectives seized around 870 grams of cannabis, a drug scale, a drug ledger, packaging material, and $233 in cash. Police officers arrested Andrew Ramsey, 18, during the search warrant.

The total street value of the all the narcotics seized is approximately $22,300, authorities said. The McHenry County Sheriff’s Police Narcotics Task Force is still investigating leads and expects more arrests to be made, according to a statement released by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office.
