Police are investigating a fire that damaged two vans parked in a driveway in Zion on Monday.

The Zion Fire Department and Zion Police Department responded to multiple 911 calls about a vehicle fire that was near a house in the 3000 block of Elizabeth Avenue at around 6:00 p.m. on Monday, according to Zion Police Department Deputy Chief Kirk Henderson.

When first responders arrived they found two vans on fire that were parked together in a row in the home’s driveway. The Zion Fire Department stopped the fire from spreading to the house and extinguished the fire. The neighboring house was evacuated by firefighters as a precaution, officials said.

Zion Police Department Deputy Chief Kirk Henderson said that the fire is of “suspicious origin”. Investigators are treating this as a criminal incident.

Investigators found two points of origin where the fire started, one in each van. The investigation is ongoing.
