A truck driver is in good condition after he drove his semi truck off the tollway and into a wooded area in Gurnee, Illinois State Police said.

The Illinois State Police, Gurnee Fire Department, and Libertyville Fire Department responded to a report of a semi truck crash on Interstate 94 north of Route 120 in Gurnee on Wednesday around noon. When first responders arrived they found a semi truck that drove off the westbound lanes of the roadway through a chain link fence into a wooded area.

Heavy damage from the crash resulted in the driver of the truck being pinned in the semi cab. Firefighters cleared multiple trees to get to the driver and then extricated him. He was transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville in good condition, Illinois State Police said.

No other vehicles were involved. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
