A 57-year-old man died after he crashed his pickup truck into a tree in unincorporated Huntley Tuesday evening, according to the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office.

The Huntley Fire Protection District and McHenry County Sheriff’s Office were called for a report of a single-vehicle crash in the 14100 block of Harmony Road in unincorporated Huntley just after 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

According to the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, an investigation showed that a 2016 Ford F-350 was traveling westbound on Harmony Road. For unknown reasons, the Ford drove off the north side of the roadway and struck a tree, authorities said. The crash happened just west of Huntley High School.

The driver, a 57-year-old man from Amboy, Illinois, was transported to Centegra Hospital in Huntley, where he was pronounced dead. Officials said he was wearing his seatbelt and the airbag systems in his vehicle had deployed. No one else was in the car besides for the driver.

The investigation is ongoing by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Major Traffic Crash Investigation Unit and the McHenry County Coroner’s Office.
