One person was seriously injured after being shot following an altercation in Algonquin Thursday evening.
The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office was called at around 11:25 p.m. on Thursday to a report of a disturbance in the 1600 block of Longview Drive in unincorporated Algonquin.
When sheriff’s deputies arrived they learned that an altercation had occurred between two people who knew each other. During the altercation, one of them shot the other person. Authorities said that the offender fled the scene on foot. A thorough search was conducted by deputies and multiple K-9 units however they were unable to find the suspect.
The victim was transported in serious condition by ambulance to Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington and from there was transported to Advocate Lutheran General in Park Ridge. Sheriff’s officials said that the victim is expected to make a full recovery.
The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office said that suspect is no longer believed to be in the area. They also said that there is no danger to the public and this is an isolated incident.
