A 17-year-old has been charged in the shooting that left two teenagers injured in Waukegan Thursday afternoon.

The Waukegan Police Department was called at 2:30 p.m. Thursday to the 1400 block of West Dugdale Road in Waukegan for a report of a shooting. Police officers arrived and found two victims that had been shot.

Less than four hours after the shooting, police arrested Michael O’Conner, 17, of Waukegan. He was charged with two counts of aggravated battery with a firearm. Police said they recovered the gun he allegedly used in the shooting.

Authorities said that both victims who were shot were boys in their mid-teens and are Waukegan residents. Both of the them suffered from non-life threatening injuries after being shot in the legs and were taken to area hospitals for treatment.

O’Conner is being held at the Lake County Jail on a $500,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court next on November 30.

Detectives with the Waukegan Police Department Criminal Investigations Division are investigating the incident. Officials said there is no threat to the public.
