A 29-year-old Barrington man was killed last week after being struck by a distracted driver while installing a traffic control device, his family said.

Matthew M. Paulson, 29, of Barrington, died of multiple traumatic injuries due to the crash which happened in Park City, the Lake County Coroner’s Office said. Park City police have not released any information about the crash.

Paulson’s family said that he worked as a union electrician for Home Towne Electric in Lake Villa. He became a journeyman electrician recently and had worked as a foreman since 2014. His family also said that he was studying to become a state certified electrician.

“Everyone who ever met Matt would say that he had a way of turning the room around. If anyone was ever in a bad mood, he could turn it on a dime. His smile was contagious. He had a real hearty laugh,” his sister Amanda Paulson told the Daily Herald.
