Three people were injured following a head-on crash involving a small school bus and two cars in Crystal Lake Wednesday morning.
Crystal Lake Fire Rescue, Crystal Lake Police Department, and the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office were called at 8:15 a.m. on Wednesday to a report of a head-on crash involving a school bus and two cars at Route 176 and Briarwood Road.
The Northwest Herald reported that Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Rick Kaiser said that three people were transported to Centegra Hospital-Huntley with minor injuries.
Officials said that a male driver and female passenger in one car, and a male driver in the other car were the three people transported to the hospital. None of the students on the bus were injured.
Authorities said that there were three District 47 students on the small school bus who were on their way to West Elementary school. They were transferred to another bus and taken to the school following the crash, the Northwest Herald said.
Sheriff’s officials said that the male school bus driver was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash.
