An Algonquin man has been arrested and charged after allegedly kicking a Huntley police officer in the face on Sunday.
Sean Mara, of the 1300 block of Surrey Court in Algonquin, was arrested after interfering with a police investigation Sunday in Huntley. Mara began to pull away from police when they asked him to cooperate and then kicked a police officer in the face, the Northwest Herald reported.
Mara was charged with resisting a peace officer and aggravated battery to a peace officer. The Northwest Herald reported that if he is convicted of the most serious charge of aggravated battery to a peace officer, he could face three to seven years in prison.
Mara’s bond was set at $50,000. He is currently being held in the McHenry County Jail. He is scheduled to appear in court again on Thursday.
