A McHenry man is facing numerous charges after he allegedly broke into a woman’s Johnsburg home, attacked her, and then stole her car.

Benjamin A. Iandola, 21, of the 3100 block of Lincoln Road in McHenry, has been charged with home invasion which caused injury, theft between $500 and $10,000, domestic battery, interference with the reporting of domestic violence, criminal damage to property under $300, resisting a peace officer, aggravated battery to a peace officer, DUI, and unlawful use of weapons.

Police said that Iandola broke into a woman’s home in the 2100 block of Fairview Avenue in Johnsburg on Friday. He allegedly threw the woman down to the ground and hit her with a wooden table leg. He then broke the woman’s cellphone which prevented her from calling 911.

Court records showed that Iandola allegedly also stole the woman’s 2006 Pontiac G6 and damaged a pottery candleholder. His bond was set at $250,000 and he is scheduled to appear in court again on Wednesday.

Police have not released any additional details on the incident.
