Crystal Lake police announced that an arrest warrant has been issued for the suspect in the October 21 jewelry store robbery where an employee was hit in the face by the suspect.
At 3:05 p.m. on October 21, the Crystal Lake Police Department responded to Dalzell Jewelers at 41 North Williams Street in Crystal Lake for a report of a robbery.
Authorities said that a black male had entered the store and asked to see high-end watches and diamond jewelry. As the employee placed two trays containing various diamond jewelry on the glass display case, the suspect grabbed both trays and ran from the business.
While fleeing from the business and employees, the suspect struck one of the employees with his hand who tried to stop him. The employee suffered a minor injury but refused medical attention at the scene. No weapons were displayed or implied during the robbery. Police said that the jewelry was worth $35,000.
The black male suspect was described as being in his 20’s with a medium build, approximately 6’1″ tall, wearing a black t-shirt with white lettering on it believed to be “Hoops”, gray sweatpants, and white athletic shoes. The suspect got into a four-door silver or gray Pontiac with a male black driver.
On November 9, police investigators developed a suspect. An arrest warrant has been issued for Cordall A. Robinson, 19, of 4019 22nd Avenue in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, for class 3 felony charges of retail theft and aggravated battery in public way.
The arrest warrant carries a $20,000 bond. The Crystal Lake Police Department said that the U.S. Marshals Service and authorities in Iowa have been notified about the warrant. Police are still trying to identify the getaway car driver.
