Police have arrested an 18-year-old student who threatened to shoot up Wauconda High School on Tuesday.
Authorities said that at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Wauconda High School administrators were notified by students of a threatening video towards Wauconda High School.
The Wauconda Police Department said that 18-year-old student Carston H. Goodson posted a “continuous rant” of himself on Snapchat.
Police said that in the video, Goodson said, “I will show you what a school shooter is.โ The video was sent to 40 Wauconda High School students during school hours.
Goodson was arrested by police at his parentโs home in the 700 block of Wood Creek Court in Island Lake just after 7 p.m. on Tuesday. Goodson has been charged with one count of disorderly conduct, which is a class 4 felony.
“Administrators from Wauconda High School worked with the Wauconda Police Department to ensure students safety and to preserve the video evidence. This partnership prevented major disruption to the school day,” Wauconda Police Department Police Chief David A. Wermes said in a statement.
